Surprise—for rich white investors, there is no election risk.
Probably best to not vacation in Lebanon or Yemen at the moment, or not have citizenship while residing in the United States.
But, if you own stock or have private capital, the markets have already priced in the good news that neither of our Dillard political parties have a single radical change in their platforms. Stocks are going up because there is less risk to your money the closer we get to Election Day.
Look at it this way. Elon Musk said he preferred Trump. Can you name a single coherent policy Trump has that might have motivated this mighty whacko Tesla dude to support him? Similarly, name a policy that the Democratic Party has that would make an ounce of difference to a trillionaire.
The answer is it makes no difference to him. And even if your net worth is in the less lofty range and you're white and have TSA clearance—let's say $15,000,000 like mine used to be—financially the November election is meaningless. Buy Meta! Sell Apple! Invest in your own business. Or not. Meaningless. Market caps will increase and the taxman does not cometh.
As far as whether we'll have a civil society ever, I agree—Trump is a bottomfeeding scumbag and less bright than a five year old. If you think Elon's leadership of X is admirable(or anything other than self-destructive), or his bankruptcy in the field of solar—a true boom industry—makes him cool, then marry into his family if you can and party with your buddies as we sell more and more military shit into the rest of the planet. (Nothing with a payload launch range of over 2000 miles though! We keep the intercontinental crap for ourselves!). You can buy all the fighter jets you need—and how else will our economy survive if you don't—but don't even think of asking about our long range drone bombers that are currently 45,000 feet directly above your bedroom.
Elon won't change that. Trump won't change that. Biden didn't change that. Harris won't change that.
Only an idiot uses the term "market risk" now. We are in the midst of a massive market premium now because every rich-ish white American knows it doesn't matter to them who wins. They'll be playing golf with their same krewe in 2025 and beyond while our bombs fall next door and we round up our neighbors.
I will not join you any more than I ever have, and I know you're certain that nothing will change for you because of our silly November ritual. I detest what you stand for no matter who you vote for if you do not acknowledge your direct complicity in today's deaths—this very minute—the deaths occurring this second that your dollars pay for. Your net worth at work in the "darker" places. Now.
