You are deeply unwelcome

This is a personal note on preparing for the violence and isolation and suffering we are about to experience as a nation.

Personally, three years ago I could not have imagined facing the terror of the jackboot without the love of my life.

Now she's my ex.

I have a new community and I will fight to stand together with them, and admit others in need of protection after government violence.

To my ex: I am shocked to find that you are profoundly unwelcome now. We will go through Krystal Nacht separately, and whatever happens I know I will never see you again. Nor, should we pass each other in ICE prison camps, will I recognize you.

I never thought I would feel that way about you, Mina. I'm that terrified. I don't even wish you good luck—like me you'll just be another person who suffers in the face of tyranny. Together maybe we meant something, and I would have said Kaddish for you, when no minion exists. I will never be with you now.
